How Composting WorksComposting is Nature's WayEvery living organism consumes nutrients and creates waste. To transform waste back to nutrients and complete this cycle, nature uses the processes of decompostition and evaporation. Sun-Mar toilets are designed not only to harness these natural processes, but to optimize and accelerate them. Toilet waste is over 90% water content. This can be evaporated and the small amount of remaining material is recycled into a useful fertilizing soil. Sun-Mar units are economical, quick to install and easy to use and because no chemicals nor septic systems are used, fragile environments can be protected. A Sun-Mar composting unit is an environmentally healthy choice for recycling human waste. And there's no smell! The Sun-Mar system evaporates excess liquid and by continuously pulling air in it ensures no smell escapes from the unit. ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITSBy using a Sun-Mar composting toilet you are doing your environment a huge favor.

Sun-Mar CENTRAL FLUSH Composting Toilet SystemsCentrex 2000Perfect for medium to heavy seasonal or light residential use, the Centrex 2000 allows for both a longer composting cycle, and larger waste volumes than the 1000 models. The increased surface area in the evaporating chamber coupled with the larger heating element also provides better evaporation on electric units. When used seasonally by up to 7-9 adults, compost will normally only need removing annually each spring. In residential use compost will have to be extracted more frequently. When used residentially by up to 4 adults, some compost will need to be emptied into the finishing drawer once every few months. The Centrex 2000 features a 370 watt thermostatically controlled heater in a sealed compartment under the unit and the standard Sun-Mar 30 watt turbo fan, with a 2" vent stack to remove evaporating liquid and fresh odors. The Centrex 2000 is supplied with a 1" drain hose which should be connected to the 1" drain at the bottom of the unit. The Centrex 2000 may be used with one or more Sealand low flush toilets. Centrex 2000 NEPerfect for medium to heavy seasonal or light residential use, the Centrex 2000 NE allows for both a longer composting cycle, and larger waste volumes. When used seasonally by up to 7-9 adults, compost will normally only need removing annually each spring. In residential use compost will have to be extracted more frequently. The Centrex 2000 NE (Non-Electric) is the non-electric version of the Centrex 2000 which is fitted with a 4" vent stack. Installation of a 12 Volt fan is optional, but it is recommended for heavy seasonal, residential use, or where the installation is particularly subject to downdraft, being surrounded by high trees or hills. We also recommend the fan if you need to install a bend in your vent stack. 2000 series units are supplied with a 1" drain hose which should be connected to the 1" drain at the bottom of the unit. The Centrex 2000 NE may be used with one or more Sealand low flush toilets. Centrex 2000 AFThe larger composting drum in the Centrex 2000 AF (Air Flow) allows a longer composting cycle, and larger waste volumes. The increased surface area in the evaporating chamber also provides better evaporation. When used seasonally by up to 9 adults, compost will normally only need to be removed annually at the beginning of the cottage season. If used in a residence, the drum would have to be rotated backwards to empty some compost into the finishing drawer once every few months, where it remains to finish composting before removal. The Centrex 2000 AF (Air Flow) is designed for use with a Sun-Mar Dry Toilet. This unit is ideal for those who do not have water, but still want the composting action to take place outside of the bathroom area. The Centrex 2000 AF is normally able to evaporate all liquids, so the drains must be connected only if heavy use (i.e. use at or over maximum capacity, or residential use) or prolonged power outages are expected. The Centrex 2000 AF features a 370 watt thermostatically controlled heater in a sealed compartment under the unit and the standard Sun-Mar 30 watt turbo fan, with a 2" vent stack to remove the evaporate and fresh odors. The Centrex 2000 AF is supplied with a 29½" pipe piece (10" diameter). This is long enough if the floor of the bathroom is up to 34" above the surface that the composter is placed on. The pipe piece can be cut to size and additional pieces ordered if necessary. This unit should evaporate all liquid unless it is being used heavily. A 1" drain hose is supplied for hooking up the drain in any case, since we recommend it for most residential use or heavier cottage use. Centrex 2000 AF NEThe larger composting drum in the Centrex 2000 AF (Air Flow) allows a longer composting cycle, and larger waste volumes. The increased surface area in the evaporating chamber also provides better evaporation. When used seasonally by up to 7 adults, compost will normally only need to be removed annually at the beginning of the cottage season. The Centrex 2000 A/F NE (Air Flow Non-Electric) is designed for use with a Sun-Mar Dry Toilet This unit is ideal for those who do not have water, but still want the composting action to take place outside of the bathroom area. The Centrex 2000 A/F NE is the non-electric version of the Centrex 2000 AF, and is fitted with a 4" vent stack. Installation of a 12 Volt fan is required on this model, and one is included in the box. The Centrex 2000 A/F NE is supplied with a 29½" pipe piece (10" diameter). This is long enough if the floor of the bathroom is up to 38" above the surface that the composter is placed on. The pipe piece can be cut to size and additional pieces ordered if necessary. With the lower evaporating capacity that comes with the lack of an electric heater, the overflow drain should be installed with this unit as there will be overflow liquid.
